Here’s What ‘How Perky Works’ Is All About

061 - Copy (2)Hey!  It’s Christie Perkins here, creator of the ‘How Perky Works’ site.  I thrive on positivity (who doesn’t?) and aim to give you a boost of spirit, a chuckle, an occasional tear, and a new perspective (or just an old perspective revisited).

Simply put, I love life and just wanted to share insight into the goodness it offers. Because, let’s face it, sometimes life splats mud on your windshield.  Perspective can get a little messy.

In 2013 I was diagnosed with two types of breast cancer, at age 34.  And, you know what, since I’ve been given a second chance at life I’m going to celebrate it.  I’ve come to understand how pertinent each little moment is and I’m going to take advantage of it.

Before cancer I had this mixed up skeewampus idea that if I mastered the thing in life that I was sent to do then life would end quicker. I know, it’s some crazy way to live my life.  If anyone ever asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up I’d tell them “88 years old.”  So, I really wasn’t in any hurry to master myself.

Cancer gave the me realistic perspective that at any moment life can be taken away from me.  So, here I am, doing what I have always loved doing: writing (though, I don’t profess to be a master of it).

Not all of my posts are going to be about cancer, it’s only a small piece of me.  Though, it is a big part of the passion I have for life and its purpose so, it will definitely trickle through.  The bulk of my posts are going to be about capturing life’s little moments; the simple things that strengthen our inner smile.  So, yes, technically a positivity blog.

There’s perks to living frugally, having a family; enduring a trial.  I hope we can discover together just how good life can be.  Because looking for and finding good is really how perky works.

This website is dedicated to working a little more perky into your life.  I’ll share some insight, tips, and true stories.  I’m just an ordinary girl who acknowledges the true source of perkiness.  I thank my Heavenly Father for his goodness and kindness in the good times and especially in our hard times.  He is there.  He is real.  And He loves us.

Life’s full of perks, it just depends on whether we acknowledge them.  Come take a look.  Thanks for stopping by.   And oh…

Have a fantastic day!
